Free Pet Calculators for Health, Nutrition, Age & Gear

SMART PET HEALTH & GEAR TOOLS

Eight Practical Pet Calculators, Rebuilt for Clarity

Research-based starting estimates, transparent formulas, correct units, and clear safety boundaries. No data is saved or sent anywhere.

Medical safety: These tools provide mathematical and educational estimates only. They do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace a veterinarian. Never change medication, food, or water access solely from an online calculator.

HEALTH, NUTRITION & LIFE STAGE

Six safer, more useful pet-care tools

01

Vet-Prescribed Medication Converter

Converts a dose already prescribed in mg/kg into total milligrams and either mL or tablets.

Do not choose a dose here. Enter only the dose and product strength supplied by a licensed veterinarian or pharmacist.
Formula & assumptions

Total dose (mg) = weight (kg) × prescribed dose (mg/kg). Liquid mL = total dose ÷ mg/mL. Tablets = total dose ÷ mg per tablet. The tool never rounds a medication dose for you.

02

Dog & Cat Daily Calorie Estimator

Calculates RER and a maintenance starting estimate using species and life-stage factors.

Formula & assumptions

RER = 70 × body weight in kg0.75. MER = RER × the selected Merck maintenance factor. This is a starting estimate; real needs can differ substantially.

03

Pet Food Portion Converter

Converts a daily calorie target into grams, cups, cans, or pouches without mixing incompatible units.

Formula & assumptions

The result uses the calorie value printed on the food package. A kcal/cup label produces cups—not grams—unless grams per cup is also entered.

04

Feline Total-Water Estimator

Estimates total daily water needs and subtracts the approximate water already supplied by food.

Formula & assumptions

General total-water range: 44–66 mL/kg/day. Food water is estimated as grams of food × moisture percentage, using 1 g water ≈ 1 mL.

05

Dog Life Stage Estimator

Uses AAHA’s life-stage framework instead of claiming a precise “human age.”

How stages are assigned

Puppy: until rapid growth ends. Young adult: after growth through physical/social maturity (usually by 3–4 years). Mature adult: after maturity until the final 25% of estimated lifespan. Senior: final 25%.

06

Cat Life Stage Estimator

Classifies a cat using the AAHA/AAFP age-related life stages.

How stages are assigned

Kitten: birth to under 1 year. Young adult: 1–6 years. Mature adult: 7–10 years. Senior: over 10 years. End-of-life can occur at any age and is not estimated here.

HABITAT & GEAR PLANNING

Two equipment-planning tools

07

Aquarium Flow & Fixture Coverage Planner

Estimates circulation capacity and the number of fixtures required to cover the tank footprint.

Fixture coverage geometry
Formula & assumptions

Flow = actual water volume × selected turnover range. Fixture count = ceiling(tank length ÷ coverage length) × ceiling(tank width ÷ coverage width). Presets are starting points; livestock, head loss, rockwork, and manufacturer guidance matter.

08

Terrarium Energy Cost Estimator

Add heat, UVB, lighting, misting, and other devices to estimate monthly and annual electricity use.

Formula & assumptions

Energy (kWh) = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours/day × billing days. Cost = total kWh × electricity rate. Thermostat cycling and variable-power equipment may use less than nameplate wattage.

Methods, sources & disclosure

Health formulas are presented as educational starting points. Individual animals vary, and clinical decisions require veterinary evaluation. Aquarium presets are broad planning ranges—not livestock-specific prescriptions.
